About me

Miss Otilia

Curriculum Advisor/Support Teacher Snowy Egret and Blue Heron

Hello! My name is Otilia González, and I am honored to be part of the Keystone Montessori community. I was born and raised in Mexico, where I studied Information Technology before immigrating to the United States and beginning a new professional journey.

My path into early childhood education began in a very personal way while caring for my nephews and teaching them Spanish. Through that experience, I discovered the joy of guiding young children and supporting their early development. I decided to pursue a career in early childhood education with the goal of combining language learning with meaningful educational experiences.

I began my studies at Merritt College in Oakland, where I focused on early childhood education while also earning a certificate to teach Spanish as a second language. During this time, I was introduced to the Montessori philosophy, and I immediately felt a deep connection to its values. The carefully prepared environment, the respect for each child, the individualized lessons, and the emphasis on independence truly resonated with me. I was especially inspired by the idea that each child learns at their own pace and that mixed-age communities foster collaboration, confidence, and growth.

After completing my studies, I began working as an assistant teacher in a Montessori classroom. This experience confirmed my passion for Montessori education and motivated me to continue my professional training. I later completed my AMI training at the Southwest Institute of Montessori Studies, deepening my understanding of Montessori philosophy and practice.

For more than ten years, I have had the privilege of working alongside the next generation, supporting children during their most important developmental years. I strongly believe that every child deserves the opportunity to unfold their fullest potential, and I strive to reflect this commitment in my daily interactions with children and in the classroom environment.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy hiking, embroidery, and painting, activities that allow me to connect with creativity and nature.

I am truly grateful to be part of the Keystone Montessori community and to work alongside such dedicated and passionate educators. It is an honor to be part of your child’s journey, and I would like to thank you for entrusting us with the greatest gift of all, your child.
